You don't need globus-gatekeeper running on every node of a cluster,
unless you have no local batch scheduler, and you use fork for
everything.
You can try the CSF portlet which supports CSF4 as a metascheduler. In
theory, you can use gridsphere with any metascheduler, as long as you
develop the interface for it as a portlet. CSF4 portlet leverages the
credential manager portlet from the gridportlets.
I don't know enough about Synergy to know how easy it is to customize
the job submission portlet. It should be doable.

Wilfred

Subject: [Gridsphere-dev] gridsphere - globus
Hi All,
If I understand correctly we need globus-gatekeeper
running on every node of the cluster. The
job-submission portlet speaks to the globus-gatekeeper
to submit jobs.
My Question:
Is it possible to use (UD) Synergy instead of
gridsphere ? What other meta schedulers does gridsphere
support? If gridsphere does not support Synergy out of
the box, then is it easy to change/customize the job
submission portlet to use Synergy ?
