[Gridsphere-users] GridSphere 3.1 release

Hi,

as always make a backup first ;-).

For the next release of GS this will be even easier, for now do that:

- - create $home/.gridsphere of the user who will start GridSphere
- - copy the content of $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/gridsphere/WEB-INF/ 
CustomPortal/* to $home/.gridsphere/
- - Now you can install the new version of GridSphere (best to a fresh  
tomcat, if not you need to remove the old jars from shared/lib, which  
is a bit tedious)
- - GridSphere now picks up the new settings from $home/.gridsphere (and  
all the settings), you can override that if you define a JNDI variable  
'gridspheresettingsdir' in tomcat
- - If it does fail restart your old tomcat with 3.0.8 and let me know  
about any errors

For future versions, since settings are now stored independent of the  
webapp, getting those to a new release should be very easy.

Now that I'm thinking about it, you might need to add

DEFAULT_LANGUAGE_OVERRIDE=false

to CustomPortal/portal/gridsphere.properties (or $home/.gridsphere/ 
portal/gridsphere.properties) before copy/starting up.
