[Gridsphere-users] Gridportlets and MDS

Hi Sandra,

I originally wrote that the portlet as a direct port of some Web UI  
that is distributed with GT4.0.X. It was meant as an administrator  
interface for directly monitoring MDS 4. I also wrote it because  
while the Globus docs were great at describing how to implement an  
information provider for WS-MDS, they were (or at least at the time  
when I read them) terrible at describing how to write queries to WS- 
MDS. So I needed some coding examples to start with and that seemed  
like a likely starting point.

However, it wasn't exactly trivial to translate the typical servlet  
style programming in which the original GT4 work was written into the  
portlet model, and while I had it working with one version of Globus,  
after upgrading to a new version it stopped working. The original Web  
UI uses XSLT, if I recall properly, to translate XML returned from WS- 
MDS into HTML content where clicking on links presented in the  
content generates new form submits for queries to WS-MDS. But of  
course when used with GridSphere that HTML content needs to have  
links that can be used to generate new Action Requests within  
Gridsphere portlet hosting the content.

Due to lack of time and resources, I decided to comment out that  
portlet.

So if you want a direct administrator UI to WS-MDS, you can always  
use what GT4 offers in its distributions.
